Has anyone signed up for word master for this book? If not, I will do that lit. circle assignment.

Sounds OK to me. I would like to be the connector again for this book, because it has a strong connection for me. I know I have been a connector before, but this story evoked such memories in me, I can't imagine taking any other job, other than illustrator, which I would also be willing to do.

Did this book make you wonder how much is kept from us when it comes to the government and such? On the other hand, Sometimes I think they have too much on the tube- it frustrates me to know that anybody here in the U.S., who could be a spy, is told everything on the t.v. Freedom of press? Is it always good, who knows? They definately kept quiet in the book.

I think a lot goes on that we don't know about. I've never bought into the UFO/monster conspiracy theories, though. On the other hand, if I did believe in UFO/bigfoot/whatever else, I wouldn't put it past the military or government officials to keep it from us.

Good points. How much does the government cover up is hard to tell. Or do they only give out what they think the public can handle. Sometimes I think that the media hypes up and gives way to much informaton out that may hurt us in the long run.

Subject: Stonehenge

For me this book was all in the setting. I love lore about ancient sites, and this one is special to me. I remember going to Stonehenge as a child back when you could still wander among the stones and touch them. There were pictures of me as a young child sitting on one of the stones with my rag doll. (My mother is looking for those pictures now, but my parents have moved three times in as many years, so I'm not holding my breath).

I think the setting makes the story here--this story would not have worked as well for me if it were set in Kansas. It might have worked differently for me if it were set in the African plains, near where the early hominid fossils have been found. But I think Stonehenge was a good choice. I think he's stretching with the shape of the stones, and the slates from the cathedral roof being the special stone to kill the monster.

However, overall, the setting enriched the story tremendously for me.

How exciting that you were able to go to the Stonehenges.
I agree the setting was a key factor in the story line.
