Subject: connector

hello! I thought I would try to be a connector for this novel. It's kind of difficult to do but here goes...

1. One of the things I constantly thought about while I was reading this novel was the REAL Loch Ness monster, the boogie man, the Sasquatch (spelling?), aliens, and other weird phenomenon that people have claimed to see. It really made me think, do I believe in this? I don't know. It's definitely something that could be researched by inquiring minds or classes.

2. Also, especially towards the end of this novel I was thinking Free Willy. Anybody else?

that's all for now!

Subject: What did you think?

I have to say that I really liked this book! I wasn't very fond of Reef of Death, but I really enjoyed this book. I think that my students will be intrigued by the title and the idea that it might relate to the Loch Ness Monster, and I think that the quick pace will keep them interested.

Subject: Surprise!

I have started to work with these books in my room, and I had the students pick the book that they wanted to read. I had anticipated that all my boys would go for the ones that looked a little more gruesome, but I was really surprised by the number of girls that wanted to read these books too! Has anyone else had this experience?

Did anyone have a character that they really connected to or enjoyed the most?
