What is a Campus Chapter?
- A campus chapter is an unincorporated student-run, student-led
organization of Habitat for Humanity that performs three main functions:
building, educating, and fund-raising.
What is an Affiliate?
- An affiliate is the incorporated, local, non-profit, Habitat for
Humanity organization charged with carrying out the mission at the
grassroots level. Affiliates typically have five committees: family
nurture, family selection, site selection, construction, publicity and
fund-raising.
Roles
-Because of the changes in chapter and affiliate membership there is an
ongoing need for education and the exchange of information about each
other's structure and purposes. This can happen informally as members
work side-by-side and formally during meetings and regional conferences.
Campus chapters can take initiative to educate themselves about affiliates
by requesting to use affiliate resources, such as literature, manuals and
videos, reading "Habitat World" and hosting speakers from affiliates.
They can also offer information to affiliates about campus chapter
activities, structure, and purposes.
